IRIDIUM
In 2019, Iridium launched their next-generation LEO constellation, Iridium NEXT, which replaced the company’s existing global constellation in one of the largest technology upgrades ever completed in space. With 66 brand new Low-Earth Orbiting (LEO) satellites, Iridium NEXT operates as a fully meshed network that is supported by multiple in-orbit and ground spares.
Iridium NEXT plays host to the high-speed Iridium Certus service, providing the world’s fastest and only truly global L-band broadband connectivity service, enabling highly mobile internet access using smaller and more cost-effective terminals. Offering reliable and affordable maritime and land communications at unprecedented L-band speeds, Iridium Certus enables essential voice and data communications for workers in some of the most inaccessible and isolated places in the world, where terrestrial networks simply do not reach.
With coverage spanning the globe including the Polar Regions, Iridium’s maritime solutions keep your vessel connected in any ocean around the world, and Iridium land solutions and handheld satellite phones, are ideally suited for industries such as government/military, emergency/humanitarian services, scientific research, construction, mining, forestry, media, oil and gas, heavy equipment, transportation and utilities.
